Singapore slides - revealing the inner Singapore !

Recently, I had the occasion to bring my kids to some of the bigger slides in Singapore.

Typically of this over-achieving nation, these slides are the biggest/tallest in the world! Wow!

Unfortunately, after playing with them, my kids fairly quickly lost interest in them. Reason? Although they are the tallest slides, the ride/slide turned out to be very disappointing experiences.

Why? After the tremendous built-up at the giant size, it was a real let down to find that you cannot achieve any decent speed on them! Their thrill factor is ZERO!

While one may applaud Singapore authorities for putting safety first, they have gone so overboard that they have taken the fun out of it! In fact, they may have inadvertently made some of these slides more dangerous. I see many kids stand up and run down some of this slides because they cannot slide well! Even my girl is doing it...

I attach some videos to show what I mean!

I do not have good videos of the T3 megaslide but the fact that a good percentage of kids cannot even finish outside the slide ends should tell you something!

Thankfully, the Singapore government has wisely let the foreigners run the Universal Studios theme park. Imagine the BORE factor if the government officials ran it!

Trip update

Unfortunately, my boy was taken ill, so we were mostly confined to parents home for most of the trip. Yesterday, boy recovered so we went to Serian and visit Ranchan Park. Unfortunately, the waterfall appeared to have dried up! Very sad.

We spent some time looking for some land around 32km from Kuching but gave up in disgust after 45 mins of driving around the region!

Did managed to try the kuey chap and kolo mee recommendation (by GL?).
Thought the kuey chap has changed from the old days. The kolo mee is pretty good though a bit salty. There is another shop that appears more popular - will post pictures and details when I get back.

Preparing for Sep Holidays

Going to bring my 2 kids to visit their grandparents in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Biggest challenge is to look for a riding stable - my daughter is crazy about horse riding....
Anybody has any tips for horse riding in Kuching? For an 8 year old girl?
